Upholstery Cleaning Process
The couch in a well-loved home gets a lot of use. Often compromised by kids, dogs, or the accidental slip of a glass of wine. Thankfully, most upholstery fabrics are hard-wearing and will clean up well. The steps may vary based on your particular piece of furniture, but the process will usually resemble the following:
Vacuum:
The first step is to vacuum the upholstery to be cleaned. This may mean under the cushions of a traditionally constructed couch, or down the cracks of a one-piece couch (non removable cushions). If your upholstery needs pet hair removal this is done with a special attachment on the dry vacuum. Pet hair removal may cost extra.
Pre-Spray:
A cleaning solution specific to your fabric and the type of soiling is applied. This cleaning solution helps to soften the suspended dirt and oils within the fibres. Choosing the right pre-spray solution will optimise the cleaning process in terms of both time and results.
Hot Water Extraction:
Using an upholstery specific steam cleaning tool, hot water is injected into the fabric and quickly vacuumed out. This process will rinse out the applied cleaning solution taking dirt and oils with it.
Extra Spot Cleaning:
Oftentimes, there are particular spots that will not budge with regular cleaning. At this stage, we utilise different techniques and a range of different solutions to attempt to remove the staining.
Fabric Protection (if required):
Applying a fabric protectant to your couch or upholstery can significantly increase the usable life of your furniture. These products will repel water and oils and help prevent an accidental wine or food spill from soaking into the fabric. A fabric protector will give you more time to remove the spill before it becomes a stain.

It's important to note that some fabrics are difficult to steam clean. Please locate the care label on your couch and provide the make and model when you book in. This way we can ensure your particular piece of furniture is suitable for steam cleaning.

Depending on environmental conditions and design/material of the furniture, it may take anywhere from 3 – 10 hours to completely dry.
